Michelle Kang
is running for state house to lower the cost of living for working families.

Meet Michelle

Michelle Kang at a podium at the Georgia State Capital, advocating for justice and support for Asian communities.

I’m Michelle Kang, a proud first-generation Korean American immigrant who’s called Georgia home since 1992. I came here to build a better life for myself and my future family, and over the past 30 years, I’ve grown deeply rooted in this community. I’m running for State House because I believe Georgia should be a place where working families can thrive, not just survive.

I’m running to represent all of us; every neighbor, every story, every voice, because Georgia’s future should belong to everyone who calls it home, no matter their income, background, or the language spoken at home.

What Michelle Stands For:

Georgia’s working families are stretched thin.
Michelle Kang will lower costs and continue to fight for ALL Georgians.

  • Over a million Georgia renters are struggling to keep up, with more than half spending over 30% of their income on housing. Homeowners are also facing record-high insurance premiums and rising property taxes. I will fight to ease this burden and advance real solutions for housing stability across our communities.

  • Georgia is home to 656,000 children under the age of five, nearly 6% of our population. Yet too many working families can’t afford the rising cost of childcare, with centers averaging over $10,000 per year, per child. I will fight to make childcare affordable and accessible so parents can work, provide, and thrive.

  • Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” slashed Medicaid, putting hundreds of thousands of Georgians at risk. By 2034, an estimated 310,000 to 750,000 Georgians could lose Medicaid coverage and 37 nursing homes will be forced to close if these cuts are not reversed. I will fight to expand Medicaid and ensure every Georgian has access to quality, affordable healthcare, because dignity and care should never be out of reach.

  • Because every child deserves a fair shot. I’ll champion this by fully funding Georgia’s Quality Basic Education (QBE) formula, which hasn’t kept up with real classroom needs, by increasing funding for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom aides, by pushing for smaller class sizes, by raising teacher pay to reflect their vital role, not just to retain them, but respect them, and by investing in mental health support and professional development.

  • By expanding the Georgia Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), supporting Childcare Tax Credits, pushing for targeted income tax reductions for families earning less than $100,000 and ending tax giveaways to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.

  • As a former small business owner, I know the barriers entrepreneurs face. I’ll fight to expand access to capital, streamline licensing, and prioritize Georgia-based small businesses for state contracts to strengthen our local economy.

  • As a first-generation Korean American immigrant, I feel the same threats and insecurity many in our communities are experiencing under the current administration. I will stand against illegal and inhumane attacks by ICE, fight to keep families together, expand language access, and protect access to public services without fear. Georgia’s strength is its diversity, and our laws must protect, not punish, our immigrant neighbors.
